Rams vehicles in inebriated state; Actress, friend in custody

KOCHI: A film-serial actress and her friend have been taken into custody for driving dangerously and ramming almost five vehicles in an inebriated state. Actress Ashwathy Babu and Noufal of Kakkanad are the two in custody. The incident started from Muttom in Aluva on the national highway at around 6.30 pm yesterday.

The youth rode the vehicle dangerously from CUSAT Junction to Thrikkakara Temple. The car rammed four two-wheelers and a car. As the car did not stop despite being hit, other vehicles went behind the car. Though a vehicle stopped the car, he tried to take it through the other side of the road. However, the tyre of the car burst. When he tried to take the vehicle, it lost control and hit the post.

When people gathered, the actress tried to shift him from the place. Though they tried to hide, the police caught them. A medical examination conducted found that the man was drunk. Ashwathy Babu is a native of Arattuvazhi in Thumba. She was arrested in a drug case in 2018.
