NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Women on Thursday issued summons to Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury over his remarks on president Draupadi Murmu. The NCW has asked him to appear in person and give an explanation. The hearing has been scheduled for August 3. The Women's Commission assessed that Chaudhary's remarks were derogatory and misogynistic.
The controversy erupted after Chowdhury was seen referring to President Draupadi Murmu as ‘Rashtrapatni’. Following this, BJP members in the parliament brutally criticized the MP’s remarks in a protest led by Smriti Irani.
