KANNUR: The CPM workers in Kannur were in the forefront to help the people offering Karkadaka Vavu bali following the directive of P Jayarajan. The voluntary organization Initiative for Rehabilitation and Palliative Care (IRPC) working under the CPM came to help the devotees offering bali.

The chairman of IRPC's advisory committee is CPM state committee member P Jayarajan. The organization opened a relief centre on Thursday at Payyambalam, the main bali centre in Kannur. People who arrived here were given light meals and water.

Jayarajan via a Facebook post urged the CPM workers to provide help to the devotees offering bali. Jayarajan's post said voluntary organizations should provide necessary services at all places where believers gather to pay homage to their ancestors and said such places should not be left only to those who wear the mask of service to hide their faces of terror.
