MANGALURU: North Kerala is also on high alert after a four-member team killed a youth in Mangaluru last night. More police have been deployed in Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad. Checking has also been tightened at the check posts in the border areas with Karnataka. The youth was killed last night at Surathkal in Mangaluru. Mohammed Faisal, a native of Mangalpete near Surathkal, who runs a textile shop, was attacked. The attackers who came in a car killed Faisal in front of his shop. At this time, the people in the shop were threatened with deadly weapons. His shop was also attacked.

Faisal was killed two days after the murder of yuva morcha leader in Mangaluru. A large contingent of police was deployed here considering the tense situation. The police have so far taken 21 people into custody in the murder of yuva morcha leader. There were reports that the attackers were Popular Front activists. They were caught from Kerala border. The assailants arrived on a bike with Kerala registration. The Karnataka Police had sought the help of Kerala to investigate the case.
