KOZHIKODE: Another sexual harrasment complaint has been filed again against writer Civic Chandran. On the complaint of a young writer from Kozhikode that Chandran tried to rape her in 2020, the Koyilandi police registered a case. This is the second case registered against Civic Chandran by the Koyilandi police. The writer remains absconding. The police assume that Chandran left the state.
The district court will pass its verdict today on the anticipatory bail application filed by Chandran following the first molestation complaint. The prosecution had asked for a detailed hearing. Following this, the hearing of the anticipatory bail application was postponed to Saturday. The court has prohibited the arrest of Civic till the decision on the anticipatory bail application.
Meanwhile, Dalit organizations have intensified their protest against the non-arrest of Chandran. The organizations said that if action is not taken within a week, they will start an agitation in front of the North Zone IG office. Hundreds of people, including cultural activists, submitted a petition to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan demanding Chandran's arrest.
