Former editor of Kerala Kaumudi R Gopikrishnan passes away

KOTTAYAM: R Gopikrishnan, former editor of Kerala Kaumudi and chief editor of Metro Vartha, passed away. He was 65.

He died Sunday afternoon. He was ill and was undergoing treatment for quite some time. The body is kept in the mortuary of Caritas Hospital. He will be laid to rest on Monday at 4 pm at Muttambalam Municipal Crematorium in Kottayam.

He had also served as the news editor of Deepika and Mangalam. Gopikrishnan was the first journalist to have interviewed LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. He was awarded the K C Sebastian Memorial Award for that. He has obtained many other awards also.

He leaves behind his wife Leela Gopikrishnan and children Vinay and Sneha.
