One killed, one seriously injured in flash flood at Kumbhavurutty Waterfalls

KOLLAM: One person died and another one was seriously injured in an unexpected flash flood at Kumbhavurutty Waterfalls in Kollam. The injured person was admitted to the Punalur taluk hospital. The Forest department officials said that five people were trapped in the flash flood.

Rescue operations are being carried out by the police and Forest Department.

Many tourists were there as it was a holiday. Meanwhile, the flash flood occured. It is concluded that the landslides that occurred due to heavy rains in the forest area is the reason for flash flood.

Kumbhavurutty Waterfalls is located four kilometres from the Chenkotta-Achankovil road in the forest. The main attraction here is the waterfall from a height of 250 feet.
