Medical board will investigate about the death of youth died of monkeypox, says Minister Veena George

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level team of the state medical board will investigate whether there was any lapse in examination and monitoring of the youth who died of monkeypox in Thrissur. Tests at the Pune Virology Lab on Monday revealed that he had monkeypox.

Health Minister Veena George had stated that the youth was confirmed of monkeypox from abroad. The minister said that his relatives gave the report of the disease to the hospital authorities in Thrissur the last day. ‘The youth who reached the state on July 21 reached the hospital on the 27th. He spent that much time with his family. 20 people are on the high risk primary contact list.

A high-level team will investigate why he reached the hospital so late. Although contagious, monkeypox is not highly transmissible. The health minister said that it is important to take preventive measures.
