Heavy rain continues in state, four deaths reported, red alert in ten districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains are lashing the state. Red alert has been issued in 10 districts. Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur are on red alert. Orange alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Kasaragod.

The Meteorological Centre has warned hilly areas to be extremely cautious. The authorities have directed fishermen not to go into the sea. Four deaths were reported in the state today due to rain.

The bodies of two including Numa Taslin aged two and a half years old, daughter of Shafeeq and Nadira of Kanichal Panchayat, who went missing in Peravoor, Kannur, have been found.

The body of a youth swept away in the river in Koottikkal was found. The body of a missing man in the forest was found. Paulose, who went missing in the forest at Kutampuzha Urulan Thanni, has died. He died after branches of a tree fell on his head.
