KOLKATA: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again raided the flats of former minister Partha Chatterjee's aide and actress Arpita Mukherjee, who was arrested in connection with the SSC recruitment case. The raids were conducted at the Club Town Heights housing complex in Belghoria, West Bengal. Arpita Mukherjee owns two flats in the complex. Last week, the ED had recovered around Rs 50 crores and gold worth Rs 5 lakh from her flats.

The ED officials arrived at the complex yet again as an investigation, centred around the accused’s houses and visitors, is underway. The investigation team has collected CCTV footage of the complex, registry details and details from MyGate app, which contains the information of visitors.

Earlier, the ED had recovered cash of Rs 27.90 crore, gold ornaments, land documents and hard disks from Mukherjee’s house on July 27. Following which, Arpita Mukherjee and former Bengal industries minister Partha Chatterjee were arrested. Soon after, the Trinamool Congress expelled Chatterjee from the state cabinet.

Partha Chatterjee has been accused of accepting bribes in connection with the illegal recruitment into teaching and non-teaching posts in government schools via the Bengal School Services Commission in 2016, when he served as the education minister in the Mamata cabinet. However, Chatterjee rejected the allegations and said that the money recovered from Mukherjee’s flats, did not belong to him.
