Heavy rain: Holiday declared for educational institutions in 12 districts on Wednesday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Due to the continuous heavy rains, holidays have been declared for educational institutions in 12 districts including Thiruvananthapuram. Collectors have announced holidays in Alappuzha, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Malappuram, Idukki, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad, Wayanad, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts. District Collectors announced that all educational institutions including professional colleges and Anganwadis will remain closed on Wednesday. A red alert has been declared in ten districts from Alappuzha to Kannur.

The holiday has been given as the Indian Meteorological Department has announced that there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Kerala for the next three days. Holiday is not applicable for residential schools in Wayanad district.

The Controller of Examinations informed that Mahatma Gandhi University has postponed all the examinations scheduled for tomorrow.
