anas

CHANDIGARH: Anas Hajaz (31) of Sumayya Mansil in 5th stone Paruthipara in Venjaramoodu, Thiruvananthapuram, who left Kanyakumari for Kashmir on a skateboard, died after being hit by a truck in Haryana. The tragedy occurred with only three days' journey left for him to reach the target.

The information received from Haryana is that he was taken to the hospital but his life could not be saved. A computer science graduate, Anas worked at Techno Park and a private school in Bihar. He started his journey alone from Kanyakumari on May 29.

The aim of the 3,800 km journey was to create awareness about skating. He reached Haryana after travelling through Madurai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. He is the son of Saudi expatriates Aliyar Kunju and Shaila Beevi.

Siblings: Ajimshah (Imam, Venjaramood) and Sumaiya (Pharmacist).

Two clothes and shoes

He took only two pairs of clothes, shoes and a helmet for the journey. This is because increasing the weight of the bag will negatively affect the movement of the skateboard. In the beginning, he used to trravel100 km per day. He cut down on the travel to 30 km per day as standing on the board for a long time can cause health problems.

What he told his friends

Anas had told his friends that if he travels another 300 km, he will reach Kashmir and his dream will be realized. Anas got the skating board three years ago. The training was done without the help of anyone else. After the Kashmir trip, he had planned to skate to Bhutan, Nepal and Cambodia.
