Happy with controversies, says Thiruvananthapuram Mayor after withdrawing controversial decision to form caste-wise sports team

Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran on the other day withdrew the decision to form caste-wise sports team after a huge controversy. But the mayor now says that she is very happy with the controversies. She wrote on Facebook that the talks gave a lot of publicity to the said camp, and she is very happy that this camp and its related activities, which have not received enough attention for so long, got so much publicity.

The discussions that arose in connection with the sports training camp of the corporation the other day gave a lot of publicity to the said camp. I think we can take it positively. With such a discussion, many people contacted saying that they would like it if their kids get a chance in the camp. Many of them said that they did not know about such a camp. That is why, as mentioned in the beginning, we can see yesterday's discussions as positive. On the demand of parents and children, a selection camp for sports training organized by the corporation will be conducted on August 13 and 14 at Poojappura ground. The training camp will include the children selected from the second selection camp along with the children selected from the camp organized the previous day.

It is a great pleasure that this camp and its related activities, which have been neglected for so long, have gained so much popularity. The corporation and I are proud to be able to give one more chance to all the deserving children of the city. We can't end it with this training camp. Further actions should also be undertaken. There are talented children in our city and there should be a situation where they can be identified, encouraged, given better training and platforms. The services of expert trainers should be ensured. It is seen that a comprehensive plan is needed. Preliminary discussions for the same have started.
