NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi MP changed his profile photo on Twitter a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Indians to change their profile picture on social media from August 2-15 to mark the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. The Prime Minister directed to change the profile picture as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign organized from August 13 to 15 under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Rahul Gandhi's new Twitter profile photo shows India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru holding the national flag. Rahul shared the picture with the note saying that tricolour is the pride of the country and the flag has a place in the heart of every Indian citizen. The note was in Hindi.

Priyanka Gandhi also changed her profile picture. Her profile also shows the same picture. She shared the picture with a note stating that the famous tricolour flag will always remain high.

The Prime Minister had the other day said that he had changed his profile picture of the national flag on his social media pages. 'Today is a very special day. I have changed the profile picture of my social media pages and request you to do the same," Modi tweeted.

Modi during his 'Mann Ki Baat' programme urged the Indians to hoist the flag in their homes for three days and change their profile picture on their social media accounts for two weeks.

August 2 is the birthday of Pingali Venkayya, who designed the tricolour flag. Salute to him. "Remembering Madam Kama, the great revolutionary," added the Prime Minister through Mann Ki Baat.
