Minister GR Anil expresses displeasure over appointment of Sriram Venkitaraman; CM criticizes Civil Supplies Minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil has expressed his displeasure in the cabinet over the appointment of Sriram Venkitaraman as the General Manager of the Civil Supplies Corporation. However, after the minister expressed his dissatisfaction, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized the minister. The Chief Minister said that minister GR Anil was responsible for leaking the news that he did not know about Sriram's appointment.

Minister GR Anil criticized the Chief Secretary for not consulting him regarding the appointment made in his department. However, the CM, who justified Sriram's appointment, said that the chief secretary is a thoughtful decision maker. It must be noted that Minister GR Anil had earlier alleged that appointments were made in the departments of CPI ministers without consulting the ministers.

Responding to GR Anil's criticism, the chief minister said that the minister was responsible for the leak of the information mentioned in the letter given to him and that the chief secretary had taken the decision after considering it normally. The CM also said that the food minister did not understand these things because he is serving as the minister for the first time.
