Following criticism on social media, collector Renu Raj issues order for educational institutions much earlier

Due to heavy rains, district collector Renu Raj announced a holiday for educational institutions in Ernakulam district only this morning. The announcement of the holiday came only after the majority of the students had reached the schools, and the collector was heavily criticized on social media. There was also widespread criticism that the collector was acting irresponsibly.

But after some time, possibly due to criticism, the Collector made a slight change in her order. The second order of the Ernakulam Collector was that the schools which have started functioning need not be closed and the children who have come to the school can stay there. This caused a great deal of confusion and criticism. People have already filed a petition against the collector in the High Court and complained to the Child Rights Commission.

Maybe learning a lesson from this, the Collector has announced today that tomorrow will be a holiday for educational institutions including professional colleges in the district. Now, none should complain that the collector's notice came late.
