PALAKKAD: Malampuzha Dam might be opened tomorrow due to strong water flow in the catchment areas. If the water level reaches the rule curve level, the spillway shutters will be opened tomorrow at 9 am, the District Collector of Palakkad has informed. The district collector also warned people in coastal areas to be cautious.

The rule curve level is 112.99 m. The water level in the dam is currently 112.06 meters. As heavy rainfall continues in the catchment area, the water level is likely to reach the rule curve level. The Collector also informed that people living on the banks of Mukkaipuzha, Kalpathipuzha and Bharathapuzha, downstream of Malampuzha Dam, fishermen and people going to the river should be careful.
