BIRMINGHAM: India continues bagging medals in the Commonwealth Games. Priyanka Goswami wins silver medal in women's 10,000 m race walk event. She bagged the achievement with the personal best time in her career.

Priyanka crossed the distance of 10,000 meters in 49 minutes and 38 seconds. This is India's third medal in athletics in Commonwealth Games. With this achievement, India bagged a total of 27 medals in Games.

Priyanka jumped into the lead at the start of the race and was leading after 4000m. After 8000m, Priyanka slipped to the third position. But the 26-year-old made a comeback in the last 2000m to win silver medal for the country. Bhawna Jat, another Indian player in the competition, finished in eighth place.

With her victory in the competition, Priyanka became the first Indian woman to win a medal in race walk. Priyanka was in 17th position during last year's Tokyo Olympics.
