Karuvannur Bank fraud: Minister hands over deposit amount to Philomena's family

THRISSUR: Minister R Bindu has handed over the deposit amount to the family of Karuvannur Bank fraud victim Philomena. Rs 23 lakhs that was in the account of deceased Philomena and her husband was handed over by the minister.

Seventy-year-old Philomena died on July 26. The family alleged that the bank did not give even a single rupee despite several requests for money for the treatment and that they could not provide proper treatment to Philomena because of that.

The relatives said that the bank employees misbehaved when they asked for money. Congress and BJP workers had protested in front of the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank with Philomena's dead body.
