NEW DELHI: The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has stated in its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that the demand to supply diesel for a lower price to KSRTC is a violation of the contract and the transport corporation has to pay an arrear of Rs 139.97 crore. IOC demanded that the case filed by KSRTC to get fuel at general market price is unfair and that it should be dismissed with heavy charges as penalty.
In the affidavit, N Balaji, Institutional Business Manager, Indian Oil Corporation, Kochi, stated that the KSRTC had enjoyed benefits offered to bulk purchasers and that it was unconstitutional to sell fuel at retail price to a bulk purchaser. He also demanded that if there is a dispute regarding the supply of diesel as per the contract, it should be resolved legally.
KPCC president K Sudhakaran MP said that the KSRTC's action of cutting down services in the name of the diesel crisis is objectionable and offensive to the public.
