India wins silver in men's hockey, lost to Australia for 0-7 in the final

BIRMINGHAM: India suffered a major defeat in the Commonwealth Games men's hockey final. India lost the game to the hosts Australia for a score of 0-7. With this, India had to settle for a silver medal in this event. It is the seventh time in a row that Australia has won the Commonwealth Games gold medal in men's hockey.

India is yet to win gold in Commonwealth Games hockey. Australia did not even give India a chance to come back after conceding five goals in the first half. Including this silver medal, India's medal tally at the Games became 61.

Earlier, Lakshya Sen won gold in Badminton Men's Singles by defeating Malaysia's Ng Tze. It is Sen's first gold medal in CWG. With this, India has bagged a total of 20 gold medals. Lakshya's score is 19-21, 21-9, 21-16. in three sets. After losing the first set, the player made a comeback in the next two attempts and won the gold. Earlier, he had won silver in the mixed doubles badminton at the Commonwealth Games.

PV Sindhu also won gold in badminton singles. She beat Canada’s Michelle Li 21-15, 21-13 in the women’s singles badminton final.This is her first individual gold in the Commonwealth Games. With this, she had won five medals in the games. She had won bronze in 2014 and silver in 2018. Sindhu overcame the injury and entered the final match.he beat Singapore's Yeo Jia Min and reached the finals. Her win in the semi-finals 21-19, 21-17.
