Governor refused to sign, 11 ordinances became void

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the Governor Arif Mohammad Khan continued his stance not to sign 11 ordinances including Lokayukta amendment, the decision put the government in a difficult situation. The 11 ordinances became void as the time to sign the ordinances ended yesterday. The laws will continue as they were before amendment.

If the ordinance is repealed, it can be introduced in the assembly as a bill or approved by the cabinet as a new ordinance and sent back to the governor for approval. If it is to be sent as a new ordinance, the Governor should send it back without revising the existing ordinance. As there is no time limit to sign the ordinances, this issue can be extended without signing for long. The government is trying to persuade the Governor. If the Governor returns the ordinance without signing it, the government can send it back for approval and he will be forced to sign.
