Participation in Balagokulam event was a mistake, agrees with party's stance, have given explanation, says Kozhikode Mayor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kozhikode Mayor Beena Philip has stated that she has given an explanation to the CPM leadership for participating in the event organised by Balagokulam. She said it was her mistake to attend the event. The party understood the matter. I came to Thiruvananthapuram to attend an official function and was not called by party leadership, said Philip. The mayor also said that she agrees with the party's stance.

The Mayor's participation in the 'Mathruvandanam' program of Balagokulam organized by the RSS and the remarks in the speech became controversial. The mayor's explanation for this also caused anger within the party. Her response was that the party had not strictly told not to attend in the Balagokulam event.

The party state leadership had instructed the Kozhikode district committee to take action against the mayor. The district secretariat which will hold meeting after the state committee will take a decision in this regard.
