Potholes fixing on national highway: contract company might be blacklisted

THRISSUR: As illegularities have been discovered in maintainenace of national highways, the contract company Guruvayoor Infrastructure is likely to get blacklisted. Thrissur Collector Haritha V Kumar said that this was pointed out in the minutes of the national highway review meeting held last February. It was found that potholes were not fixed properly in about 40 places . The Collector stated that the preliminary report has been submitted to the High Court and the detailed report will be submitted within a week.

In many places, more than half of the potholes are not filled. The company just poured tar in half of the potholes. Pothole sealing continued yesterday on Mannuthy-Edappally National Highway. The PWD officials also found that the potholes were being closed unscientifically without using a road roller. The High court has asked the collectors of Ernakulam and Thrissur to inspect following several allegations.
