Transplant institute to be established soon, waiting time and expense for organ transplantation will be reduced

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George on Friday said that with the establishment of the Kozhikode Institute of Organ Transplantation, the cost of treatment for organ transplantation and the waiting time for the organs will be reduced.

In the Organ Donation Day message, the Minister said that a comprehensive protocol will be formulated for practical implementation of organ donation activities.

For the first time in the government sector in the state, liver transplant surgery was successfully performed at Kottayam Medical College.

"Thiruvananthapuram Medical College is ready for liver transplant surgery. Kozhikode Medical College will be set up soon. The process of organ donation is completely under government supervision. Propaganda to the contrary is false. The main objective of World Organ Donation Day is to motivate people to donate organs to save someone's life", the minister said.
