nn

NEW DELHI: Following FIFA's ban on the All India Football Federation, the Centre took immediate action and approached the Supreme Court . The central government has requested the Supreme Court to hear the case related to AIFF immediately. Thr Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the bench comprising of Justices D Y Chandrachud and A S Bopanna that FIFA had sent a letter suspending India. The Supreme Court will hear the case tomorrow. In response to the Solicitor General's letter, the High Court bench informed that it would try to consider this as a first item.

FIFA on Tuesday banned India citing outside undue influence from third parties in AIFF administration. Along with this, India was excluded from hosting the U-17 Women's World Cup in 2022. Meanwhile, FIFA has announced that the suspension will be revoked once the order to set up a committee of administrators to take over the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee is repealed and the AIFF Administration regains full control over the day-to-day affairs of the organisation.
