THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Latin Archdiocese representative Eugene Perera said that the ongoing fishermen's strike against the port construction in Vizhinjam will continue. Eugene Perera's response came after a discussion with ministers V Abdurahiman and Antony Raju.

It was agreed that the Chief Minister would hold talks with the fishermen within a week to resolve the issues. The Archdiocese announced that it will end the strike only if the government agrees to its demands. A nine-member group represented the fishermen in the discussion.

"The discussion was positive. They have agreed on five out of seven demands. The minister has informed that those staying in the camps will be shifted to rented houses before Onam. The kerosene subsidy issue will be considered by the Chief Minister and the Cabinet," the Archdiocese said.
