Sabarimala Sreekovil: Maintenance works will be delayed

PATHANAMTHITTA: The maintenance work at the leaking part of the roof of the Sabarimala Sreekovil will be delayed. The Devaswom had earlier announced that the works would start tomorrow. The maintenance work has been postponed as permission from the High Court is required to start the work.

The Devaswom Board has completed preparations for a complete renovation of the top of the Sreekovil. The works under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and Thiruvabharanam Commissioner will be completed before the next pilgrimage season. There is no damage or holes on the gold plates on the part of the roof where there is a leakage. One can find if any gold is missing only by removing the rest.

The gold required for maintenance will be taken from the board's reserves as the proposal to find sponsors has not been implemented.
