THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even after 50 days of the AKG Centre attack, the police are still searching in the dark. Although the crime branch began investigation into the incident, there has been no progress. The investigation is being led by a team under crime branch DySP Jaleel Thottathil.

The attack took place on June 30, at around 11.25 pm, when a person, who came on a scooter, hurled an explosive at the AKG Centre. The CCTV footage of the attack was immediately obtained but the accused could not be nabbed.

The case was probed by a special investigation team for 23 days, but to no avail. Following which, the probe was handed over to the crime branch. The attack on the state committee office of the ruling party in the state and the failure to trace the accused had sparked a huge controversy. According to the opposition’s allegation, no one has been arrested because if the accused is caught, then it will trap the CPM itself.

Meantime, a Facebook page has decided to observe today as it marks fifty days after the AKG Centre attack. A page, namely ‘Daily updates on the AKG Centre cracker case’ has also organized a meme competition to observe the day.

Cash prizes has been announced for the winners of the competition. The ‘Kittiyo’ (Got them) memes, which got viral following the case, are also published on this page. The prizes will be distributed on the day the accused are caught, states the page.
