KANNUR: The Kerala High Court has stayed the appointment of Priya Varghese as associate professor in Kannur University. The court action was on the plea of second rank holder Joseph Scaria.
Scaria moved the high court demanding to remove Priya Varghese, wife of K K Ragesh, private secretary of the chief minister, from the appointment list of associate professor. The plea demanded that she was appointed illegally and that she should be removed from the appointment list of associate professor.
Priya’s score was the lowest among the six research scholars considered for the post. Scaria, who came first scoring 651 marks, was made second after making Priya Varghese who had only 156 marks, first after the interview. Priya was given 32 marks for the interview and Scaria 30. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan had frozen the appointment procedures of Priya after her appointment kicked up a controversy.
