CHERTHALA: A birthplace complex is being constructed for Karunakara Guru, the founder of Santhigiri Ashram, at his birthplace Chandiroor. Although the foundation stone of the complex was laid two years back, the construction works were put on hold due to the pandemic. However, the building’s construction will be inaugurated by actor Mammootty on August 28, said the ashram office-bearers in a press conference.
The construction cost is Rs 150 crore. Of which, the first phase is expected to be completed at an expense of Rs 20 crores in 2027. The inaugural ceremony will be presided over by advocate A M Arif MP. The introductory speech will be delivered by ashram general secretary Swami Gururetnam Jnana Thapaswi. The event will be attended by ashram president Swami Chaitanya Jnana Thapaswi and organizing secretary Swami Guru Mithran Jnana Thapaswi among others.
Swami Janananma Gnana Thapaswi, Janani Pujajnana Thapaswini, Swami Jyotichandran Gnana Thapaswi and Swami Chitasuddhaan Jnana Thapaswi informed that prominent people from social, cultural and political fields will participate in the function. Many including, Zeenat Shihabuddin, Ashraf, Naushad Kunnel, Majeed Veluthedathu and T P Prakashan, also took part in the press conference.
