Onam kit distribution interrupted again today, will make special arrangements to avoid rush, says Minister of Food and Civil Supplies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister of Food and Civil Supplies G R Anil said that it will be ensured that all ration card holders in the state will get Onam kit and special arrangements will be made to avoid crowding in ration shops. As per the figures till 10 am today, free kit has been distributed to seven lakh card holders.

'Special days have been fixed for different categories of card holders to purchase Onam kit was to avoid rush. Those who are unable to purchase on that day due to inconvenience will be able to do so on other days. There is a possibility that the E-POS machine in ration shops might stop working due to large number of cardholders in ration shops.', said the minister. He continued that a special system will be arranged to prevent this. He was speaking at the inauguration of Harita Karma Sena Meet (Green Task Force) in Thiruvananthapuram district. The minister added that the Harita Karma Sena workers are doing a great service to the state and no matter how much they are paid, it is not enough.

Harita Karma Senas are working in most of the local bodies of the state under the coordination of Harita Kerala Mission, Suchitwa Mission and Kudumbashree Mission.

The meet was organized with the aim of analyzing the activities of the Harita Karma Sena initiatives and presenting the best examples of them in order to improve their work.
