KABUL: The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has banned girls from leaving the country for studies. According to reports, both male and female students were planning to move to Kazakhstan and Qatar for education purposes, but only male students were permitted to fly out of Afghanistan.
The Taliban, which took over Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US troops in September 2021, has been committing severe human rights violations against women. It had brutally suppressed the protests staged by around 50 women, outside the Afghan education ministry, demanding jobs, food and freedom.
Currently, women of the country are prohibited from acquiring education beyond sixth grade. Women are banned from working outside. They should cover their faces in public places. There are decrees prohibiting women from travelling unless accompanied by a male relative. The new law is the latest addition to this list of decrees.
