THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain continues in the state. Yellow alert has been issued in thirteen districts. Yellow alert has been sounded in districts except Kasaragod. The authorities informed that more caution should be taken in hilly areas considering the possibility of landslides.
Heavy rain is likely to lash the state for the next five days. Yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and the day after.
The rains are due to the presence of cyclonic vortices in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal and strengthening of the westerly winds in the Arabian Sea. Fishing has been banned in Kerala coast today. The authorities informed that strong winds of 40 to 50 km per hour and bad weather conditions are possible.
Holiday for educational institutions
In the wake of continuous heavy rains, the collector has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in Pathanamthitta. There is no change in the university exams.
