Heavy rains likely in five districts in three hours, possibility of strong winds

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of heavy rain in five districts in the state within the next three hours. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Idukki districts are likely to experience heavy rain with thunder at isolated places. Wind gusts of up to 40 kilometers per hour are also possible, according to the warning.

Rain is likely to continue for three days. Orange alert has been declared in six districts today in view of heavy rain. Orange alert is in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts. All other districts are on yellow alert. A yellow alert has been issued in all districts due to the possibility of heavy rain tomorrow and the day after.

A yellow alert has been issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Kasaragod districts on Friday and on Saturday in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Palakkad Malappuram districts. Fishing is not allowed in the coasts of Kerala and Lakshadweep till September 2, the IMD said. According to the warning, strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour and bad weather conditions are possible along the coast of Kerala and Lakshadweep till September 1.
