Flight ticket prices get costlier, expats suffer setback

ABU DHABI: Expatriates who were going to return to the Middle East has suffered a setback due to the increase in air ticket prices. The families returning after the opening of schools in the Middle East are the most affected. Those who have bought one-way tickets will now have to spend more. A one-way ticket to the UAE costs above Rs 40,000 per person. It will cost around Rs 1.6 lakh to 3.5 lakh for a family of four to return to Dubai. Fares will increase from Rs 5000 to Rs 10000 fo flight tickets to Abu Dhabi.

The increase in fares has also hit those who rely on connecting flights to return to the UAE as there are no seats available on direct flights. The fare will be Rs 52000 to Kuwait, Rs 35000 per person to Qatar and Muscat, Rs 44000 per person to Bahrain and Rs 50000 per person to Riyadh. Ticket prices are expected to drop by mid-September.
