5-year-old Assam boy subjected to unnatural sexual harassment; 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for Thiruvananthapuram native

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The court sentened 25-years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh to Cheriyathura native Muthappan(35), for unnatural sexual harassment of a five-year-old minor boy.

Thiruvananthapuram Special Fast Track Court's judgment is in the sexual assault case of a native of Assam. The fine should be paid to the victim. If the fine is not paid, then the accused will have to serve an additional year of imprisonment.

The family had come from Assam for construction work and were settled in Valiyathura. The incident took place in April 2017. The accused molested the child who was playing near the house. Then the boy informed his parents and they lodged a complaint with the police on the same day. The period spent on remand by the accused is deducted from the sentence.
