Rs 5 lakh fine or 6 month imprisonment for shawarma sale without license

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has issued guidelines to prevent shawarma sale in unhygienic and improperly cooked conditions. A fine of up to Rs 5 lakh or 6 month imprisonment will be awarded for shawarma sale without a licence. The guidelines issued by the health department also stated that cooking should not be done in unhygienic conditions. Recently, a student from Kasaragod died of food poisoning from shawarma and many others sought treatment.
