HYDERABAD: Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was seen rebuking the District Collector for not displaying Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photos in the ration shop. The Union minister publicly expressed her anger at Jitesh V Patil, the collector of Kamareddy.
According to sources, Nirmala Sitharaman got irked during an inspection of a PDS ration shop in Birkoor when the collector was unable to provide her an answer to what was the Centre and State's share of rice supplied through fair price shops. She also asked Jitesh Patil as to why the picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was missing there.
The minister then asked the collector to submit complete information within half an hour. She also ordered the collector to display Modi's picture in the shop.
Meanwhile, the Union minister's action evoked strong reactions from the ruling party leaders. TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao stated that he was appalled by the "unruly conduct".
"These political histrionics on the street will only demoralize hardworking All India Services officers," he said. Rama Rao complimented Jitesh Patil on his dignified conduct.
