Pregnant woman from Thiruvananthapuram commits suicide in husband’s house, did not even inform her family about pregnancy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A pregnant woman committed suicide at her husband's house. Amala, a resident of Vallakkadavu in Thiruvananthapuram, committed suicide. Amala, who was two months pregnant, hanged herself at her husband's house in North Paravur, Ernakulam.

Her relatives alleged that Amala was not allowed to contact her own family. They said that she did not even inform them about her pregnancy. It is alleged that the family did not give her the phone when her family called her and when she requested to go home, they told her to leave the mangalsutra there and then go.

Amala's relatives complained to the police that she was mentally harassed. The police have registered a case of unnatural death. Amala got married to Ranjith, a native of North Paravur, two years ago.
