 Rs 3200 given to around 60 lakh people, food kits distributed to 90 lakh families: KN Balagopal

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister KN Balagopal announced that the government has reached all the families in the state during Onam. "Free food kits have been distributed to around 90 lakh families in the state. Rs 3200 have been distributed to around 60 lakh people as social welfare pensions", the minister stated in a press release.

Onam allowance of Rs.1,000 each were given to five and a half lakh Mahatma Gandhi NREGA workers. Rs 2,000 as ex gratia to workers in locked factories in traditional labour sectors. Workers in locked plantations were given Onam kits. Bonus/festival allowance/advance granted to all government employees of the state. Rs 4000 bonus, Rs 2750 Onam allowance and Rs 15,000 were given as Onam advance. The minister informed that Rs 1000 Onam festival allowance has been given to the service pensioners.
