Low-pressure area in Bay of Bengal, to intensify within 48 hours, state likely to receive heavy rain for five days

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the state is likely to receive widespread rains and isolated heavy rains for the next five days. The monsoon trough is moving southwards from its normal position. A cyclonic circulation is lying over Karnataka and adjoining areas.

A low-pressure area has formed over the central-west Bay of Bengal. The low-pressure area is likely to intensify in the next 48 hours. As a result of this, there is a possibility of widespread rains and isolated heavy rains for five days, the IMD said.
