THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Beverages Corporation had a bumper liquor sale of Rs 117 crore on the Uthradam day alone. The Uthradam day topped with sales worth 85 crores last year. BEVCO had an additional income of Rs 32 crore this year. Out of this, sale was more at the BEVCO outlet in Kollam Ashram. People bought liquor worth 1.6 crore here. Liquor was also sold in large quantities at Irinjalakuda, Cherthala Court Junction, Payyannur and Thiruvananthapuram Powerhouse Road outlet. There was a sale of more than one crore in four outlets.

Liquor worth Rs 624 crore was sold in seven days upto Uthradam. It was 529 crores last year. The reason for the rise in sales is that as BEVCO remains closed on Thiruvonam, people bought more liquor on Uthradam, but the bars were opened.
