Degrees through distance, online education from recognized institutions will be on par with regular degrees: UGC

NEW DELHI: The UGC has clarified that degrees obtained through distance and online education from recognized institutions will be treated as equivalent to regular degrees. This applies to both graduate and post-graduate diploma courses.

In a news release, the UGC informed that the decision to treat equally is in accordance with the twenty-second regulation of the Open and Distance Learning Programs and Online Programs Regulation. UGC Secretary Rajneesh Jain informed that as per UGC norms, undergraduate and postgraduate courses pursued through distance and online education and post graduate diploma courses pursued through similar mode of education from higher educational institutions will be treated as regular course.
