BENGALURU: A 46-year-old man has been arrested for marrying a 14-year-old girl. The police also arrested the girl's parents who helped to conduct the wedding. A case was registered against the accused under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.

The girls' parents are daily wage labourers. The couple has three daughters. Due to poverty, the education of their children were stopped midway. Taking advantage of this situation, 46-year-old Guruprasad approached them with a marriage proposal.

Guruprasad was married earlier. His wife had left him years ago. He approached the girl's parents through a woman. The parents were informed that he was interested in marrying one of their daughters and would pay money.

When he paid Rs 25,000, the parents agreed to the marriage. The wedding took place in a temple. Then the girl came to work in a hostel in the city. When the girl said that she was married and her husband was 46-years-old, the hostel owner informed the police. Meanwhile, the parents told the police that they did this because of poverty.
