SIVAGIRI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Sivagiri Mutt in Varkala. On the fourth day of his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul reached Sivagiri Mautt at 6:30 am Wednesday morning. The mutt received him after draping a shawl.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, Ramesh Chennithala and many other leaders accompanied the leader. Rahul met the sanyasis and spent more than 10 minutes at the Mutt. He is visiting the place for the first time.
Rahul also participated in the prayer ceremony at Sivagiri. President of Sree Narayana Guru Dharma Sangham Trust Swami Sachidananda responded that Rahul Gandhi's visit was a happy experience.
Happy that he visited the Mutt uninvited. Rahul was invited twice earlier but due to inconvenience he could not attend. The entire Nehru family had visited the Mutt. Swami Sachidananda said Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi had visited the Mutt before. Rahul visited various centres of the Mutt and it was a happy experience.
There is no difference between Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi in Sivagiri Mutt. The attitude of the Mutt is to receive everyone. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has a sympathetic approach towards Sivagiri Mutt and to the concepts of Narayana Guru. If this continues, the left government will come to power again, said Swamy Sachidananda. Among the 28 % of the Sree Narayaniers, there is only one MLA from the Congress. The Mutt expressed their displeasure in this matter to Rahul. Sachidananda said Rahul has assured to consider it sympathetically.
