Port construction halted due to lack of police security in Vizhinjam; Adani Group in court seeking contempt of court proceedings against govt

KOCHI: The Adani Group has filed a contempt of court petition against the state government in the High Court questioning the non-implementation of the order to provide police security for the construction of Vizhinjam port. The Adani Group also stated that the construction of the port has come to a halt due to a lack of police security.

Earlier, the single bench had ordered that the protesters have no right to obstruct the Vizhinjam port project and that adequate security should be provided for the construction of the port. The court also directed the state to call the central forces if it is unable to provide police security for the construction. The Latin Archdiocese is strongly protesting against the construction of the port.
