THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The vigilance inspection as part of Operation Saral Rasta found potholes in half of the roads during an inspection. The inspection was carried out on the roads where tarring had taken place over a period of six months. Potholes were found in 67 of the 148 inspected roads. Vigilance found out the quantity of tar on 19 roads was not enough. It was also found that tarring was done without the use of road rollers.

At the same time, Minister PA Muhammad Riyas told the media that the reason for the road damage is untimely rains. "The thought is to do road construction by understanding the weather. Climate change is a major issue. The government will discuss and decide on providing assistance to the families of those who fall in potholes and get injured", The minister added.
