NEW DELHI: Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He also merged his party Punjab Lok Congress with the BJP. Amarinder moved to the BJP camp following a meeting with BJP national president JP Nadda. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju welcomed him to the party at a function held at the BJP headquarters.
In September last year, Amarinder Singh had unceremoniously resigned from the Congress ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections and floated his PLC and then made an alliance with the BJP that already had made SAD (Sanyukt) as its ally.
