Governor violated Constitution; Kanam Rajendran lashes out at Arif Mohammad Khan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran has lashed out at Governor Arif Mohammad Khan for calling a press conference and making allegations against the government and the Chief Minister. Kanam quipped that the governor's press conference was like a chicken yawning. He also said that the governor's action is unconstitutional.

"Which constitutional department dictates the publication of correspondence between two constitutional bodies? The governor of Kerala has violated the country's constitution. He cannot avoid signing the bill for the rest of his life. There is a Constitution and laws for that. The LDF government will proceed accordingly. The governor's arguments are childish," Kanam Rajendran said.

The governor began an extraordinary press conference at Raj Bhavan at 12 noon. He started speaking after circulating the PRD visuals of the attack against him at the historical congress venue. He said that it was KK Ragesh, the private secretary of the chief minister, who stopped the police that day after coming down from the dais. The governor asked whether the post of private secretary was a reward for this.

The governor, who released the three letters sent by the chief minister, also levelled serious allegations against the chief minister and said that he came to the Raj Bhavan and demanded the re-appointment of Kannur VC.

The governor has taken very unusual steps against the government and the chief minister. Governors calling press conferences is unusual not only in Kerala but in the country itself. So far, the governor continued to respond to the media at public events or airports. By convening the press meet, it is indicated that he is moving towards drastic measures.
